The first reason that concrete often cracks is expansion. In very hot weather, a concrete slab will expand as it gets hotter. This can cause great stress on a slab. As it expands, it can push against objects in its path, such as a wall or an adjacent slab of concrete. The resulting force can sometimes cause concrete to crack. 

However, Marin Sonoma uses polyureas, which are more chemically resistant to a much wider range of chemicals. Due to their densely cross-linked chemistry, polyureas will stand the test of time. Polyureas are 100% UV stable. This concrete coating can make it through extreme climates. 

Excessive weight can also cause cracks as it presses the concrete down. Homeowners who place large recreational vehicles or dumpsters on their driveways are more likely to see this type of cracking. Driving heavy vehicles off the edge of a slab often creates a crack.

However, polyureas are extremely flexible. The polyurea base can take a tremendous amount of abuse. Because they are malleable, they can take the physical impacts and disperse them.
